Summary:

The project aims to support 2300 returnees (300 documented and 2000 undocumented) households those who returned to eastern region in 2018 with Cash Based Transfer Program in three provincial capitals of Eastern provinces. Each vulnerable family will be assisted with 6000 AFN per month for three months.

Project Name:Seasonal Support – FOOD Assistance to host community (Prolong IDPs)

Summary:

This is a 3-month project from October – December 2018 in four districts of Nangarhar province. About 14,000 beneficiaries or 2000 households will be given 369.03 MT mixed food to prevent deterioration of food insecurity among highly vulnerable households during the lean season. The above mentioned districts are currently at IPC -3 level. Each family will be give 50 kg flour, 5 kg pulses, 4.5 kg oil, 0.5 kg salt and 1.5 kg Nutritious food for children.

Summary:

FGA signed a contract for Consultant’s Services with Independent Directorate of Local Governance to work as facilitating partner for the CCAP in the selected 100 urban communities in Jalalabad City. The objective of the CCAP, in effect a social contract between the government and CDCs, is to improve the delivery of core infrastructure and social services to participating communities through strengthened development councils. These services are part of a minimum service standards package that the Government of Afghanistan is committed to delivering to citizens. FGA under this contract will identify 100 communities and establish and empower 100 Community Development Councils and 20 Gozars Assembly in four urban districts of Jalalabad City (Districts # 3, 5, 6 & 8)

Summary:

The CCAP is the government national program, aims to reach 8.5 million people in the first phase. The goals include providing 3.4 million people access to clean drinking water; improving the quality of service delivery in health, education, rural roads, and electrification; increasing citizen satisfaction and trust in government; and a 35 percent return on investment for infrastructure projects. It will aim also at better integration of internally displaced citizens, persons with disability, poor people, and women. In March 2018, IDLG sign a new contract with FGA to facilitating CCNPP/CCAP) in additional 100 IDPs populated communities and 20 Gozars in Jalalabad City.

Project Name: Emergency Food Security Assessment (EFSA-2018)

Summary:

The EFSA-2018, has started by Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC) in all 34 provinces in Afghanistan to assess the impact of drought on household food security and livelihood across 34 provinces of Afghanistan in order to understand the impact of drought on affected population during the 2018 post-harvest season and to know how many food insecure HHs are in Afghanistan. This assessment will Identify the nature of food insecurity (Acute vs Chronic), its main causes including shocks and consequences in term of coping mechanism. Beside the Provided data and information will help updating the integrated food security phase classification (IPC), Humanitarian Need Overview (HNO), and FSAC strategic Response Plan (SRP) 2019. MAIL, donors and FSAC partners will widely use this data for planning purposes. As per plan each province will cover 32 communities and in each community 15 HHs will be surveyed. FGA along with few other organizations (APA, SHPOUL, NCRO, SOFAR, WHH, PAIL) introduced their extension officers for three days EFSA training, facilitated by FAO, WFP last week in eastern region. FGA team developed an assessment plan and will conduct the assessment Sunday 05 Aug 2018 onward in various part of eastern region. Let me include that FGA was the first organization contributed big hand to this assessment in eastern region by introducing 10 extension officers out total 22 officers in the region. The final result of this assessment will be shared at the beginning of September 2018.
